David takes 6th At Boothill's Holiday In Dixie Shootout
|
|

April 22nd- How cool can it be? You
grew up watching legends-to-be like Jeff Castle, Doug Ingalls, Ronnie Adams and Rick Brown... now fast forward 20+ years
to the Holiday In Dixie Shootout at Boothill Speedway and your running fifth behind these guys. That was the
case this afternoon as team DFR went head-to-head with the former champions of the sport.
David started on the pole in the first heat where he held off Adams for all except for the
final lap as the #28 Troyer enountered a fuel pick-up problem. On the final lap Adams passed David on the outside and
went on to the win. On a side note, Ronnie Adams was driving Warren Anderson's 3x with Davids back-up motor. Warren
and his crew worked all through the night to put the motor in for Ronnie to drive since Warren had problems with his
motor the night before at CPS.

April 22nd- Team DFR along with the Ark-La-Tex
Wing Modifieds held their season opener last night at Champion Park Speedway without a cloud in the sky, for a change.
David and the #28 The Shed/Troyer wing modified had a high draw to start
the night gridding them in the second heat, second row-inside. David quickly moved into second and was catching the
race leader #88 as the caution flew for a gathering in turn four. When the green waved again, he was all over his
back bumper waiting for his chance to take the lead. Noticing the #88 wasn't as good in the corners, David's last chance
came in turn four on the final lap as he pulled alongside the leader and it was drag race to the stripe. Although
the announcer said "Forbis had just enough to take the win", the #28 was creditied with second, coming up just one foot short
of the win.

Boothill Speedway has put together an event for a one-time Sunday afternoon race to feature wing modifieds.

March 27- When team DFR raced at Grand
Prairie Speedway last week, they picked up a new fan with talent. John "Bent Fender" White of Canton, Texas, sent an
email stating how he had never seen a car like the #28 Cajun Daiquiri/Troyer wing modified. Many people commented
on our 'different' style of car throughout the evening, as all of the IHWMA cars in attendance were of the 'skinny' make.
Now, back to the subject, John sent us an email of how he was 'building' a 3-D replica of DFR wing modified from a program
much like the one that produced the Disney movie "Cars". After many hours and several emails back and
forth, here's the finished product. Since we haven't really finished the car to date, it's as close as you can get to
the real representation at this point.
For John's unsolicited efforts, DFR.com will proudly give him one of the first team hats
of 2007! Click here to see his work on last year's #28 wing modified. Thanks John!

Shakedown at Grand Prairie
|
|

March 24- Yesterday team DFR traveled
west to shake the car down in a preseason event with the Ironhead Wing Modifieds. It
was basically a last minute decision as you'll notice the car isn't even finished with the lettering.
The heat race was the first race-condition test for the Troyer Max-Flex wing modifed.
It also marks something totally new to the championship chassis maker, running a wing. Bill at Troyer
has been very instrumental to finding a good starting point running with the wing. The heat proved very positive
as the car handled great. David basically laid back and ran his own race shaking the car down. He passed a few
cars but was then relegated to the rear after being turned around in turn two. Unfortunatley in the feature,
the team encountered power troubles and David exited early not to complicate the problem.
Aside from minor motor woes it was a productive night. Rick, who handles the chassis
for the team, couldn't have been happier with the handling out of the box. David echoed the same, saying "It entered
the corners great when we had full power, and it rolled, it was so easy to drive." David also added "It's great
that Bill offered his time to us, to take a car that doesn't normally run a wing and work with Rick on finding a set-up. We
haven't run a series event yet and Troyer has been there for us, we couldn't be more pleased with the support."

March 16- With three weeks left until the
first race of the season, team DFR is close to putting The Shed #28 wing modified on the track. The motor was fired
up this week and it roared a very pleasant, rumbling, shake-you-in-your shoes sound. As you can see from the photo at
the left, the colors this year have changed from Davids familiar blue and white to silver, black, and white. The change
in colors has gradually morphed over the last three years, beginning with the #28 ASCS sprinter in 2005. Also in
the photo you can see the layout for the graphics.

Rick offered top job with United Sprint Car Series
|
|

January 26th- With David once again
electing to run the Ark-La-Tex Wing Modified Tour, his brother Rick has made a decision as well. In December of 2006,
Rick was offered the position of Competition Director of the United Sprint Car Series (USCS), based out of Fayetteville, Ga. The
USCS is the only 360 sprint car series whose schedule includes both dirt and asphalt tracks with a 50+ race schedule
from Florida to Missouri. Although it was an excellent opportunity to 'take it to the next level', Rick has opted
to stay with David and race for their first championship with the ALTWM's.
Rick briefly worked for the USCS in 2004 under series founder
and President, Pete Walton and his partner 1991 Daytona 500 winner, Ernie Irvan. As the 2007 season was nearing, talks
were ongoing between Walton and Forbis. Along with the duties of Competition Director, Rick would also work on USCS
sponsorship packages and promotion of the series. The working relationship between Walton and Forbis proved to be a positive
one with hopes for a reunion as he was familiar with Rick's dedication, promotion, and technical eye as well. "Unfortunately the
timing just isn't right.", said Forbis. He went on to add "This opportunity is a hard one to turn down, Pete has a great
series and a genuine love of the sport, I wish him the best." The offer would have made Rick the only full-time
USCS employee other than Walton.
With only a few weeks left until the first playdays, both
David and Rick have high expectations this year and expect nothing less than the crown. With that said, Rick guarantees
you'll see the #28 wing modified in victory lane in 2007! Period.

DFR welcomes Troyer Race Cars
|
|

December 22nd- David Forbis Racing welcomes
our newest sponsor, Troyer Race Cars of Rochester, New York.
Founded in 1977, Troyer Engineering has became one of the most successful
car builders in the country. In 1981, Bill Colton came to work at Troyer and became managing partner in 1989 and in
2000 he became sole owner. Bill also had a successful racing career in an asphalt modified but chose to hang up his helmet
in order to focus on the business. Troyer builds asphalt modifieds as well as the dirt modified Max-Flex.
David Forbis and the #28 wing modified team appreciates the support of Troyer
Race Cars as well as all our 2007 sponsors.

2007 plans to be announced soon
|
|
December 9th-
As most teams are looking ahead to the '07 season, DFR is no different. Last month David sold the '99 Bicknell that
took him to a sixth place finish with the Ark-La-Tex Wing Modifieds final point standings. After sitting behind the
wheel this year of an ASCS sprinter, a wing modified, and most recently a 600, the team plans have been up in the air.
As David sets to enter his 15th year of racing, all of which have been
with a wing, he's expected to make an announcement before the end of the year on his upcoming plans. Along with wing
modifieds, sprints and 600's, David's also shown interest in late models.
Keep checking with DFR.com for latest.

A look back on 2006, and a look ahead to 2007
|
October 12th- As 2006 gets lapped, just
around the next turn is 2007. What does '07 hold for David Forbis Racing? Let's look at where we've been first.
2006 started off in the #28 ASCS Cajun Daiquiri sprinter as David embarked
on his 4th year of 360 competition. As several local tracks held test and tune days, David took advantage of them like
most others. We mention this because at Ark-La-Tex Speedway David jumped behind the wheel of Warren Anderson's #3x for
a few laps. Needless to say, he caught the bug. As the year got underway, David made two starts in his 360, one
at Little Rock's I-30 and then a return to Houston Raceway Park.
After a couple weeks off and some negotiating, David soon made the deal
to run with the Ark-La-Tex Wing Modifieds. After a third place finish his first night out, things looked good.
He then made every race with the exception of one at Monticello Speedway,
where prior family commitments kept David from attending. After 13 events, David posted an average finish of 8th which
includes two DNF's due to mechanical failure and a DNF in a back-up car at the season finale. For a year that was supposed
to be a 'test the waters' year, he lived up to his ability as a driver to finish 6th in the standings. Along the way
David picked up two consecutive Hard Charger Awards at Champion Park Speedway and Thunder Valley Speedway.
In '07, David looks to chase the points with the ALTWM's for his
first championship. He feels confident after competing with a car that had less than top-notch equipment this year,
that he'll be able to accomplish this goal in '07.
